REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST TO PRODUCE ARCHITECTURAL AND ENGINEERING DRAWINGS AND BILL OF QUANTITIES AND PROJECTS FOR WAZIRI UMARU FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, BIRNIN KEBBI

1. BACKGROUND
The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Tertiary Education Fund (TETFUND) has allocated Normal Intervention to Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin kebbi, for the construction of Mechatronics/Computer Engineering Department and School of Business and Administrative Studies in its endeavour to improve the quality of learning. Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic intends to apply part of the funds to engage a consulting firm/s to supervise the construction of the departments mentioned above.
2. OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
1. The objective of this assignment is to select a competent consulting firm with the requisite experience to design and supervise the building projects and ensure the final delivery of structure that conforms strictly to specifications.
2. To ensure that the Institution receives value for money for its investment
3. Achieve high client satisfaction through collaboration with the contractor to detect and resolve any problem that may occur throughout the duration of the contract
4. Resolve issues amicably without resort to litigations.
3. SCOPE OF SERVICES
The consultant is expected to provide the following services.
1. Architectural and Engineering drawings and blueprints for the construction work and make necessary adjustments and reviews as may arise.
2. Supervise the work of the main contractors and make the necessary recommendations
3. Monitor the progress of work and submit periodic reports to the client.
4. In conjunction with the Physical Planning Department produce Valuation Certificates for payments of work done.
5. Work with the contractor to rectify identified defects before commencement of next stage of any work done.
6. Detect any early cause of problems and notify the client.
7. Any other work that may be assigned to him by the client.
The Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic now invites eligible Consulting Firm to indicate their interest in providing the cost documents and supervision services.
Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (profile of the consulting firm, track record and description of similar assignments under similar conditions, general qualifications and availability of appropriate skills among staff). Eligible Firms could associate with other firms to enhance their qualification.
A Consulting Firm will be selected under the consultant qualification (CQ) method in accordance with procedures set out in the Public Procurement Act 2007. Only shortlisted firms will be invited or contacted for further correspondence.
