PUBLIC DISCLOSURE EXERCISE OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL MANAGEMENT PLAN (ESMP) REPORT FOR THE PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION AND EXPANSION OF NATIONAL PRIMARY HEALTH CARE DEVELOPMENT AGENCY (NPHCDA) SOUTH WEST ZONAL COLD AND DRY STORES, OSHODI, LAGOS STATE UNDER THE NIGERIAN POLIO ERADICATION SUPPORT PROJECT (NPESP) 3RD ADDITIONAL FINANCING

In accordance with the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Act CAP E12 LFN 2004, which makes it mandatory for proponents of all new major development activities to carry out Environmental and Social Impact Assessment on their proposed projects, the Federal Ministry of Environment hereby announces a twenty-one (21) working days Public Notice for information and comments on the Draft ESMP report.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) in collaboration with the World Bank is currently implementing the Nigeria Polio Eradication Support project Additional Financing 3. The Project development objective is to assist the FGN, as part of a global polio eradication effort to achieve and sustain at least 80 percent coverage with oral polio vaccine (OPV) immunization in every State in the recipient’s territory. Under component 3, the project will finance the construction of the South West cold store located within the compound that houses the Federal Medical Store (FMS), the Lagos State Medical Store, the Family Support building and the NPHCDA Cold and Dry stores. This new construction will replace the existing cold and dry and will not involve any permanent physical relocation of people nor prevent or affect any source of livelihood.
