DEADLINE: 13TH DECEMBER, 2022
BRITISH COUNCIL NIGERIA
TITLE: SSA_NG_SUPPLY AND DISTRIBUTION OF PRINTED MATERIAL, LEVEL-WISE WORKSHEETS IN ENGLISH, HAUSA, AND MATHS TO THE BRITISH COUNCIL NIGERIA
REFERENCE: BC/02704
Description:
The PLANE Accelerated Learning (PLANE AL) is an FCDO-funded project in northern Nigeria being implemented in all primary schools in seven local government authorities (LGAs) in Kano State from January 2022 to September 2023 by the Kano State Ministry of Education, Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education (SRCoE), with support to programme delivery provided by the British Council and Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) Africa.
PLANE AL aims to build foundational Hausa, English and Maths skills for 185,244 primary four (P4) to primary six (P6) pupils (154,812 pupils in five new LGAs plus 30,432 in existing ones) and 3,859 teachers across seven LGAs (2,663 in five new LGAs plus 1,196 existing) in approximately 578 schools – 397 new schools in five new LGAs plus 181 schools in Wudil and Dawakin Tofa LGAs that participated in the earlier pilot (September 2019 – December 2021). The programme is rooted in the teaching at the right level evidence and approach. This approach involves assessing children on foundational literacy and numeracy skills, then grouping them by learning level rather than by age or grade level for two hours per day to focus on foundational skills in reading and Maths. The programme is also piloting two further innovations: student teacher facilitation, alongside class teachers; and a dual language approach to English whereby children’s first language (Hausa) is used as a bridge to learning the second (English).
PLANE AL is adopting a hybrid learning model combining in-school activities with home-based learning resources. The latter comprise radio broadcasts for the three subjects (25 – 30 minutes each on two radio stations, three times per week, plus a live, weekly phone-in session for listeners), an SD card pilot containing audio content from the learning-by-radio programmes which children can access in their own time and at their own pace, and worksheets with learning content linked to both in-school PLANE AL activity sessions and radio broadcasts.
We are seeking to engage a supplier or suppliers with the capacity to print and deliver copies of worksheets made up of different level-wise versions in English, Hausa, and Maths for pupils who are progressing to higher levels of learning
