DEADLINE: 30TH NOVEMBER, 2022
LAGOS STATE MINISTRY OF ENERGY AND MINERAL RESOURCES
INVITATION FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI) ON GEOLOGICAL INVESTIGATION OF LANDFILLS IN LAGOS STATE FOR GROUNDWATER AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINATION

(1.0) BACKGROUND
Landfills are a major contributor to the world’s anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions because an enormous amount of CH4 and C02 are generated from the degradation process of deposited waste in landfills. Landfill operation is usually associated with contamination of surface and groundwater by leachate from the landfill (mostly if the landfill lacks adequate liners), pungent odour, loud disturbing noise from landfill bulldozers, bio-aerosol emissions and volatile organic compounds.

As part of the State Government’s effort towards improving public health as well as preserving the quality of the available groundwater resources, the Lagos State Government is desirous of conducting comprehensive geological investigations to determine impact of all landfill sites in the State on the soil and groundwater within/around the host communities of the dumpsites.

Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) thereby invite qualified geosciences consulting organizations to express interest in executing the landfill sites impact assessment.
