EXPRESSION OF INTEREST AND CALL FOR PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTICIPATION ON WASTE RECYCLING IN AKWA IBOM STATE
(1) PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection & Waste Management Agency (AKSEPWMA) is established by Akwa Ibom State Law CAP 47, 2000 to promote, conserve, sustain and champion environmental protection and waste management in the state. Since 2018 when the present board of the agency was inaugurated it has given the state a deep sense of pride in the discharge of her mandate, among which includes emerging the cleanest state in Nigeria for five consecutive times (2018 – 2022) under the State of the Nigeria Environment (STONE) Cleanliness Performance index ratings of all States/Towns in Nigeria report by Clean-up Nigeria.
In order to sustain and deepen the fresh mandate of His Excellency the State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, his ARISE AGENDA and ECONOMIC BLUEPRINT in Championing Innovative Waste recycling industry in the State, AKSEPWMA hereby calls for the expression of interest by reputable private companies at home and in the diaspora on waste recycling in the state
(2) PROJECT GOALS
Goal 1: To Reduce, Reuse and recycle waste generated in the state
Goal 2: To Create Employment for the populace Goal
Goal 3: To Generate wealth from the venture
(3) SCOPE OF WORK
- Carry out waste paper and cardboard recycling
- Carry out metal recycling
- Carry out plastic recycling
- Carry out WEEE (Electronic Device)
- Carry out wood recycling
- Carry out conversion of bio-degradable waste into fertilizers
(4) CURRENT ROAD BLOCKS & BARRIERS TO SUCCESS
- There are no formal waste recycling plant/industry in the state.
- The venture is to be fully funded privately
- Waste collection and delivery is the responsibility of the private Partner
(5) METRIC/CRITERIA
- Previous experience on similar projects and past referral are required
- Samples of case studies from previous or present similar projects as required
- Experienced technical expertise is highly recommended
(6) SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Only companies who meet the metric on the evaluation section should apply
- Evidence of company registration with CAC to be attached.
- Evidence of current tax payments in the last three (3) years should be attached
- A proposal schedule must also be included with clearly expressed date of commencement includes contact person’s information such as Name, Position, Email and Phone Number
