RFP Closing Date: 15th September 2023

ANNEX 1: RFP SCOPE AND REQUIREMENTS

Background and Introduction:
Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance (“Gavi”) is looking to carry out a site-wide revamp of its corporate website, Gavi.org, with a view to a launch a new version of the website in 2024.

The purpose of this RFP is to identify and contract a Service Provider that will help Gavi in managing the revamp – from UX research to design to development and launch.

Gavi is a public-private partnership that helps vaccinate half the world’s children against some of the world’s deadliest diseases. Since its inception in 2000, Gavi has helped to immunise a whole generation – over 1 billion children – and prevented more than 16.2 million future deaths, helping to halve child mortality in 73 lower-income countries. Gavi also plays a key role in improving global health security by supporting health systems as well as funding global stockpiles for Ebola, cholera, meningococcal and yellow fever vaccines. After two decades of progress, Gavi is now focused on protecting the next generation, above all the zero-dose children who have not received even a single vaccine shot.

Gavi Project
The current version of Gavi.org was launched in Q4 2019. It was developed based on a simple UX review. The revamp included a CMS-switch to Drupal. Due to the pandemic and multiple priorities, Gavi.org has been subject to patchwork and ad-hoc development. As a result, site users struggle with navigation and multiple call-to-actions. Across the site, there are several brands and identities (Gavi, VaccinesWork, COVAX, ZDC, INFUSE, etc.), which makes it difficult for site users to approach and understand the essential role and function Gavi plays in global health. Meanwhile, the editor’s view (in Drupal) needs to be optimised to ensure that users work as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Since its launch in March 2020, Gavi’s blog – VaccinesWork – has grown to become a reference for scientifically accurate and timely information on vaccines. It received the European Excellence Award for best micro website in 2022. As of January 2023, VaccinesWork counts for close to 70% of all traffic to the Gavi website and the Communications team anticipates a high volume of both organic and paid web traffic to continue in 2023 and 2024.

Some sections of the Gavi website have seen no updates since 2019.

The main objective of the 2024 revamp is to create a new website that is light, simple and effective in terms of content and navigation, enabling internal and external users to quickly and easily understand Gavi and find the information that they need. The new website – available in English and French – will have: smart navigation and search, clear entry points for key audiences; strong call-to-actions; mobile optimisation; design consistency; integration with data platforms; and a clear governance structure.

The purpose of this RFP is to identify and contract a Service Provider that will help Gavi in managing the revamp – from UX research to design to development and launch.
