NRC has been operating in Nigeria since late 2015 aiding with Emergency shelter, Livelihoods and Food Security, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene sectors, Information Counseling and Legal Assistance, Camp Management and Education.

Call for Interest for Supply of Vocational Start – Up Kits for NRC Participants in Plateau State
The second phase of the GIZ-funded project titled “Building Sustainable Livelihoods to Promote Social Cohesion and Peaceful Coexistence of Vulnerable Populations” builds on the successes and lessons learned from the first phase. This project targets 308 (164FM 144F) Youth with market demand driven vocational skills optioned informed by market assessment. NRC commissioned labor market assessment to understand the labor market and business opportunities to inform demand driven youth vocational skills system and response to the market signals and trends. The labor market assessment was conducted in 6 LGAs; Bassa, Bokkos, Riyom, Mangu, Shendam and Wase LGA and other surrounding areas including Jos city in Plateau state.
It’s upon this finding and recommendation of the assessment that have informed selection of the Vocational skills that NRC needs to that target youth in 6 LGA. While the Labor markets provided comprehensive list of courses that are high demand, reviewed the courses recommended, reveals the following courses were most viable and more demand in the markets based contextual and market realities in different targeted LGA. The selected courses include Barbering; Shoemaking, Catering; Tailoring, Hair dressing, Soap making, Carpentry, Welding, Auto mechanic and Phone repairs start up kits.
