Facebook has announced a training, mentorship, and support programme (Facebook 2021 Community Accelerator Program) for community leaders who are at least 18 years of age or older and are residents of communities that have a presence in Facebook groups.
The programme titled: “2021 Facebook Community Accelerator Programme” aims to assist community leaders from Facebook communities in harnessing and turning their ideas into action, granting them access to funds worth up to $50,000.
As one of the essential nuggets of this programme, community leaders are urged to identify important initiatives that will create a positive impact on the broader world and develop a plan to mobilize one’s community around these goals. In light of this, shortlisted leaders will have the opportunity to learn from experts, coaches and a customized curriculum, supporting their quest to further develop their community.
In addition, the community leaders will collaborate with top advocates and leaders in the community space and utilize all necessary tools aimed at helping actualize the goals.
To be eligible leaders must satisfy the following conditions;
• 18 years of age and above.
• Must be residents of the following countries: Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Brazil, United States, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco and India.
• Eligible communities are communities that have existed for over one year and must have a minimum size of 1,000 members
Note that beneficiaries of the 2020 accelerator program are not eligible to apply.
How will Facebook fund the programme?
Facebook in collaboration with GlobalGiving will be funding participants’ project plans and help to set them up for success in the program. Selected participants will each receive up to $50,000 in grants during the eight-month program and could be eligible to receive part of the $1 million of additional funding available to further fund their community initiatives. Up to $7.5 million will be awarded to program participants in total.
