Background
Tearfund Nigeria, on behalf of Renewal Eco-Recycler (RECOR) Ltd./Gte., a social enterprise dedicated to recycling plastic waste, is requesting an upgrade to the existing 500kVA transformer and power supply from 11kV to 33kV to meet RECOR’s growing operational needs.
Objectives
- Assess Current Installation: Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the existing 500kVA transformer and power supply infrastructure for the upgrade to a 33kv supply and 500KVA transformer.
- Develop Upgrade Plan: Develop a detailed plan for upgrading the power supply and transformer to 33kV/500kVA, including necessary components, specifications, and timelines.
- Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ): Prepare a detailed and priced BOQ for the upgrade project, including competitive market rates and precise quantities for all necessary permits and approvals are obtained.
- Ensure that all necessary permits and approval are obtained.
Scope of Work
- Site Assessment: Conduct a thorough inspection of the existing electrical infrastructure, including the transformer, switchgear, and distribution lines.
- Technical Analysis: Analyze the current power supply and identity the necessary upgrades to meet the 33kV/500VA requirement.
- Component Selection: Enumerate and advise on the best-quality components within the current transformer, insulators, earthing, gang switch, cables, etc., that are adequate for the upgrade to 33kVA supply and must comply with national regulations, specifications, and industry standards.
- Cost of Estimation: Prepare a comprehensive BOQ with accurate pricing and quantities for all materials, equipment, and labour.
- Permit and Approval: the vendor will secure all permits and approvals required for the upgrade project, including timelines and documentation necessary for the final commissioning of the transformer.
- Standard project management best practices are required to complete the project.
- Complete and enclose a work plan
- The vendor must demonstrate and certify that the installation is safe and reliable for the job to complete.
Qualification and Experience
A registered Electrical Power Engineering Company whose project lead/manager must have a minimum of:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional engineering license.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical power systems design, Installation, and maintenance.
- Expertise in transformer upgrades, substation design, and power distribution systems.
- Knowledge of relevant electrical codes and standards.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality results on time.
- Proven familiarity and experience working with the non-profit/development sector are desired.
- Strong project management and clear communication skills.
